it's all coming back

been ages since i last posted. cant even remember how to log in.
Things and life has been good. Many changes happened in the past couple of months. People come and go; things happened, but life is good nevertheless.

Exam was just over a couple of days back. Hopefully all went well. That means another exam before the clinical years. yippee. If all goes well, that is.
It's the convention again tomorrow. Not really looking forward to it, not that excited, not prepared. Maybe when the time comes then I'll be ready. There are just other things thats more important and bothering me right now to care about finding costumes for convention. argh. wat a time.
And then there is my winter elective, and then the holiday is gone. Back to being a student again.

Betty has gone back today, and I am alone in the room. the messy room. with the piles of clothes at every corner. shit, i must start doing my laundry, soon. I don't know where to start.
there are just so many things to do, things to settle and clear. but i don't know where to start, how to start. maybe i shall just wait. wait for things to fall into its own place, and let God's plan to work. In times like this, I just wanna sleeeeeeep, run away. far far away.

after months of procrastination, i've finally decided to post something here again. Been really lazy to blog, guess coz I am not the blogging kinda person.

Anw, life has been pretty decent and i am happy with it.
Uni is well and I am into the last few days of my mid-term break right now. Going back to uni this tuesday for the OSCEs (practical exam equivalent). and i have not prepared for it. supposed to be studying for it this week, but so many other things take priority. =( hopefully everything is well.
exam timetable is out too. will be done by the mid of november. but i am staying in adelaide till the end of dec for summer elective and a lil bit of work.

work has been great as well, and I am liking it more each time. Probably coz I know more things and feel 'smarter' each week. Geez, felt pretty dumb the first few times coz I know nuts about specs or contacts and I don't wear them at all. so I was clueless. Picking up and learning new things each week. Thankfully, colleagues have been nice and helpful. I like the fact that I am the youngest around, and they really looked after me well. The younger optometrists are really a bunch of fun people to be with.
but i miss my slack and relax saturday morning too.=(

holiday came and pass really quickly. siao wen came over and went kangaroo island with her. good fun. I tried out sand-boarding and snorkeling. Saw lotsa seals, sea lions, kangaroos, wallabies and penguins during the nocturnal walk. good stuff, awesome company and we all had great fun! finally had a time to catch up with siaowen after not seeing her for almost a year. come adelaide more often k! =)

and spring is here. weather has been weird, but it's getting sunnier. yay! i love the sun! although i know i will start complaning of heat soon. aniwae, 4 more weeks of uni, 1 week of study break, then 2 weeks of exams to go before I am a free happy girl again.

Myer and David Jones in the city have put up their Christmas decoration. It's superduper early huh. but I am loving it. Nice deco, nice music, wonderful feelings. Christmas hurry come.
I wanna have a Christmas party soon! And Lenny, I wanna a chalet! Remember you are the IC eh. =)

exam/monday blues

having monday blues. and exam blues. i hate exam, even worse when the exam drag for 2 whole weeks. fine, 3 considering 1 week of swot vac. that means i have been deprived of uber-fun social life for almost about 3 whole weeks! need a strong dose of retail therapy really quickly.

2 pprs down, 3 more to go. a chinese paper to end the exam with, which i have not even touched at all. screwed. will probably cram everything up the night before the exam itself.

been addicted to youtube and Kdrama lately. finished watching 1 of them. tt's like 17 episodes, which equals to 17 hours. wat a thing to do during my exam. =) to justify that, fullhouse is really good lah.

and there is World Cup too. wat a good timing. exam and world cup together. plus the timing is really off here. Been watching some of the matches, restricting myself to only 1 match per night. sianz. Oh, and i just love SPAIN! totally. they are good and they have lots of eyecandies. haha. torres, febrigas and raul to name A FEW. hee, wat a reason i know. women....
and my current ambition is to be the medic team for the next next world cup!! =) it better be held in a country that i am gg to work in.

had another bbq party at home last night. most of the people in the house have already finished their exam. how lucky. some of them do not have exam at all. jealous jealous. holiday mood is sinking in. real fast.

been blog-surfing lots lately. things you do during exam lah. haha. happy that everyone is doing well and enjoying all your hols to the max. all the fabulous trips, camps, parties etc. blog more people, entertain me! dun be as lazy as me! =)

well, tts all for now. sooooo looking forward for thursday, when i'll break free and put all the books away for a great, solid 3-weeks break. till then, lemme battle with resource practical, MCQ/SAQ and the chinese paper.

Don't feel any difference though. Probably it's true that age is nothing but number. Coz in any case, people do not believe I am 21, although I am. Damn thouse bouncers who keep asking me for ID. haha

Right at 12 midnight, celebrated it with Eugene Keith and Hans. Thanks for the 'poisoned' ice cream and for remembering and taking time off cooking and packing to sing me the bday song. =)

The surprise right after MPPD tutorial. You guys caught me off-guard. Such a simple but 'powerful' and nice surprise. Good enough to keep me smiling all day long despite the tiring and busy day at the stall. Thanks Med2 for the unexpected drop by to outside my classroom with cake and bday song.

Went out with my housemates for dinner at night. Had a great time with them, before finally going back to Eugene's place to prepare for multi cultural week again.

Saturday, 6th May 2006 @ Raffles House, Adelaide Debby's 21st and Maybelline's 19th Birthday Celebration -White and Gold-

Had a combined birthday party with Maybelline. Her bday was on the 8th, so pretty close to mine and thus we decided to have our bday celebs combined. We decorated the house into the white and gold theme. We had white and gold balloons, white cutleries with golden plates and cups etc. Told the guests to come in white and gold too. =)Thanks for obeying peeps. Know it's not easy, esp for the guys to wear something white and gold. so gay?! hahaha.
May and I decided to wear purple ourselves though. Just so that we can be different. =)

Aniwae, Ida Grace and Betty offered to plan the party and they really did a great job at it. Really great to have them around, especially since I was busy with medball, multicultural week etcetc during that period. And boy, they were good.

So, the house was transformed that night. The main dining areas. Buffet style. Finger food. Love the centre-piece - a vase of white and purple lilies + silky white cloths and floating tealight candles. beautiful. =)

With all the lights switched off, the main hallway was decorated with tealight candles aligned nicely on the floor.

21st bday

Before the party began, Maybelline and I were forced to stay in the room until asked otherwise. Meanwhile, the rest were outside waiting for people to come. The guys acted like bouncers and they were really good at it apparently. They put on their fierce face, asked for name and double checked it with the guest lists. how funny. Too bad I din get to see it personally. Got to only peep a little bit from the window in my room. Maybelline and I feeling bored waiting in the room; so took photos of ourselves; self pics again; the guests outside; guests in the pantry; ida doing her final touch up with the deco; me looking at the bouncers; the bouncers!!; us with betty, who's supposed to baby-sit us for a while.

So apparently, the guests were first brought to the pantry to fill up the guest books for us. That's why we were told to stay in the room for the 'grand' entrance. Sneaky grace eh.

21st bday

Finally we were allowed to get out of the room.
So here is the 'grand' entrance, when we finally got in to dining hall and everyone screamed Happy Birthday. It was quite surprising and impressed to see the setting and the lighting of the house, especially after being forced to stay in the room eversince the first guest arrived. Well, aniwae, May and I walked around and received many birthday wishes and hugs. Then, the party started! Everyone proceeded to grab the food.

About an hour later when everyone was done with the food, Kevin came in with the birthday cake. So we had the making of the bday wish, blowing the candles and cutting of the cake. Then, the champagne and the 'yumseng-ing', ala Kev. That's the Chinese culture bit. me and the cake; making our wishes; blowing the candles; cutting the cakes; happy faces; popping the champagne and spilling it; yumseng pics

Done with that, we proceeded to the TV room for the present opening. Thought this place will be cosier as it's smaller and warmer too. We gave our birthday speeches there and opened our presents then.
Alex and the guys gave both Maybelline and I some 'adult toys'. Maybelline got a handcuff and I got a mask+cane. how kinky. And they made us wear it on the spot. haha but it's all in the name of fun! =)
Oh, and they passed us each with a 'guest-book' which everyone signed and personalised. really cool, especially with photoshop-ed photos and cute decorations in it. really love it. thanks to ida especially for making the book. So that's what you have been doing in your room eh.. =) Well, thanks a lot guys for the many presents. I love them all! =)

But that means the beginning of the after party. woohoo. The supposedly classy and dignified party was transformed. The dining hall was now changed into a 'pub' - good music (courtesy of Maybelline) plus alcohol. Everyone was excited, and the excitement level kept increasing as people drink more. haha. Aniwae, I was fed lots lots lots of alcohol, way too much for my body mass. I was fed lots lots lots of alcohol. And i really mean A LOT, way too much for my body mass. People kept toasting, so drank shots after shots after shots in quite a short period of time. And before even feeling high, damn I was wasted. Hugged the toilet bowl for quite a while, before getting some sleep and woke up again to join back the party. no hangover, thankfully.
Well, eventually most people got wasted too... And lots of funny and some scandalous incidents happened. Entertaning. haha
Thanks Betty, Jol, Leighton and Gau for worrying and taking real good care of me then. And Diwei, Daphne and Hans for 'entertaining' me then! =) Oh, sorry for the noise guys =p. Apparently, I was told that I made soooo much noise then. hahaha what's new. The after-party photos

what a week

been such a hectic week.
sorry for the long silence of the blog, again. what's new. but i have been really really busy and tired the past few weeks. *yawn*
last week was massive. had medball on saturday and before i even got the chance to recover fully, had to prepare for multi cultural week. LACK of sleep. slept for about 3-4 hours a day for about 4 days. tried to sleep in on thursday and friday, but it din work. missed quite a number of classes too.
then my 21st bday party on last weekend. and then i was swamped with work and assignments to do. had to catch up with whatever i missed the last week and had 2 things due on thursday. now that it's all done. i am feeling soooo much better. =)

exams are coming, in 4 weeks time. not that soon, but just enough time to start catching up again. that's if i start now. anw, gotta get my priory right in place again. soon.

Medball 2006 - Willy Wonka @ Adelaide Festival Centre Saturday, 29th April 2006

It was an awesome night. Lotsa fun around, despite the mediocre food and place. The band, crowd and atmosphere was good though. Nuff said, let the pictures do the talking .
The 2nd and 3rd year Singaporean med students; galz from my batch; gau,keith and clyde joining us at the after party; more of my batch gals. everyone look fabulous, i thought. different from how they would normally look.

being the photo-whore me, took lotsa other photos with many other people throughout the night. but i was not the only one busy with the cameras. everyone was!

first day of my second term. was a great day despite having to wake up at 6am. the earliest ever. sometimes it's cool how we just know that the day is going to be a good day. =) good to meet up and catch up with some friends again. be around the noisiness, laughter, cold corridors, the familiar faces and smell of med school. to be honest, i am growing quite attached to that place, as much as i hate it at times.

went to uni early to finish and print off my guidelines, then went for classes as usual. and i actually stayed for 2 hours of chinese lecture. well, i usually go for the first hour, tick my attendance, then left after that. got back my chinese test too. surprised surprised. got a HD for it. lost lots of marks for the hanyu pinyin section. i just cant tell the tone right lah. what's new, haha. weirdly, i actually prefer the characters (simple ones, though) than hanyu pinyin.
PBL was normal as well. only 5 of us tday, coz the other 2 decided to have their own extended holidays.

everyone seems to be excited about medball. saw the big group of people queueing for the tickets at the foyer. met some of the gals in the city,looking so thrilled, shopping and preparing for medball. how exciting. think the theme is pretty lame/dodgy/funny blablabla - Willy Wonka. how to dress up according to the theme? wonder who would actually (besides the organising committee lahz).

it was really cold in the morning, but got warmer n sunnier in the afternoon. kinda like the weather today. not too cold, not too windy, and just enough sun to keep up with the mood.

shall just reply the tagboard here. easier to type here, since i am at it. =)

hahndorf

since i am free, i think i should blog more now and put up a whole bunch of photos before i might disappear again when the school starts.

today we headed to hahndorf for lunch, which ended up to be dinner, rather. We set off pretty late waiting for everyone to be ready.
it was such a nice day when we left the house, sunny and not too cold as well.. on the way, we stopped by Melba chocolate factory. ate quite a lot of sample chocs and bought ourselves a few kgs worth of chocolates in total. a few kgs, imagine. think we are crazy. but chocolate is good. for health. i hope.
tried choc chilly - hot choc- from the shop beside it. pretty interesting taste to the palate. dun really like it though.

took a few brochures and had a few ideas on places to go for the next SSA roadtrip to hahndorf or adelaide hills. maybe i should consider working as a tourguide if i can't be a doctor.
gonna drop by some travel companies soon and start planning for perth trip too. exciting.

anw, drove by a very scenic road on the way to hahndorf. stopped by here and there to take pics with the beautiful sceneries. forgotten about how hungry we were. poor eugene and grace who din eat anything for the whole day. well, it was fun running out of the car to snap pictures of ourselves and ran back in to the car coz of the rain. stupid weather. it started raining afterwards when we were there. stopped, then rain again. continuosly like that. freezing cold weather. cold and numb fingers too.

finally we reached hahndorf. first destination is the market. bought fruits and vegetables there. planning to live a healthy life for the next few days. thinking of fresh milkshakes and juices. yummy.

then our final and most important destination, the Hahndorf Chinese Restaurant for dinner. most of the shops r already closed when we get to the town, so headed straight for dinner. The restaurant is owned by Hans' friend's family who happened to beLeighton's family friend. What a small Adelaide.
The food was superb! The best chinese food I have tasted in Adelaide so far. *yummy*. So they cooked for us some special dishes that are not even in the menu. how cool is that. we had 5 different dishes altogether and they are all superbly delicious. i am not even exaggerating here. totally in love with the asam seafood and the grilled chicken breast. i dun usually like chicken breast coz they are usually dry, but this time, it is soo tender juicy and succulent. likewise for the rest of the dishes. a must go to restaurant. hahaha.
then Yin, the common friend, came and joined us for the desserts. she is currently in yr 3 medicine and it's always nice to meet seniors or someone who is gg thru the same thing as you. aniwae, we had the special ice creams - coffee with kahlua, rum and raisins, baileys chocolate chips and cherry ripe (i think). my personal favourites will be rum and raisins plus bailey chocolate chips. can't decide which one is better between these 2. haha.

all of us are so stuffed and contented at the end of the day.

btw, IKEA is finally opening in Adelaide this thursday. that's how deprived we are here.

i am tired, physically. but my mind is wide awake. weird. blaming the coffee and tea that i drank today. sigh.
been back in adelaide for about 8 weeks now. was caught up in welcome bbq preparation the moment i touched down adelaide, then school started and work just keep piling up. things are just so different as compared to last year, when they gave us more freetime and space to breathe in between lessons. not that my timetable now is very packed, but more becoz i have morning and afternoon classes at the same time, with long breaks in between. and i have more homework/guidelines/learning issues/reading materials and chinese homework to do this year.
used the rest of the time to chillout with my housemates and coursemates once in a while. been keeping myself busy with SSA organisation and chinese and yoga classes. trying to lead a healthy life. trying.
actually, been kind of a morning person then. sleep n wake up early. and to be honest, i actually feel much better like that.but the holiday is screwing my bed time and thus my waking up time again.

certain things have changed. it's sad. it's good. it's weird. it's unexpected. it's unplanned for. but then again like they said, change is the only constant in the world. so things are bound to change. maybe for the better? i dunno. but i know things happen for a reason. =)

oh, my pregnant lady (remb i am supposed to follow a pregnant lady thruout her course of pregnancy?) gave birth do a baby gal on Saturday. I was so excited when her husband gave me a call. really happy and touched for the fact that they remember to call me even when they are anxious and panicky then. rushed to the hospital which is 1 hr away. too bad i missed the delivery by abt a few seconds. got to deliver the placenta and clean up the baby though. oh, she is adorable. gonna see them again sometime soon.

the weather has been really weird again these days. cold yet sunny. dunno what to wear. either too hot or too cold. now that it's gg to be winter, i want summer to be back. as much as i hate the scorching hot sun, i love its shine and brightness. i just feel happier during spring and summer. the weather now is just bad. it's the best weather to sleepsleepsleep and hibernate. no wonder plants/seeds go into dormant mode now. hahaha, how lucky. been raining lately too and according to the weather forecast, there will be lots more rain in adelaide this year. arghhh no.

1 more week of holiday left. gonna make full use of it. will go out out out and have fun before switching to study mode again next week. so many assignments waiting to be looked at.

easter is over and 1 week holiday is up. how fast. now into 2nd and last week of my autumn/midsemester break. Decided to stay in Adelaide for the holiday and it's been good so far, didn't even realise how time flies. slept a lot on a few days, lack of sleep on the other few days. used the time to catch up on all the fun missed during school term. (yeah,right)
Did lots of shopping and eating this holiday *yummy*. Guess it's the easter season here. Felt like it's Christmas. really. Shops here are closed for the easter weekend.
Organised a Barossa Valley trip for the SSA and it was good. Many people went and think all of us enjoyed ourselves...
More work and enjoyment coming up before school starts..

Jazz Night 2006 was awesome. I like Jazz night. It is one of the classiest event in med calendar. It's held beside the Torren's River. There was a band playing jazz music, people dressed up smartly - dresses for gals, shirt and tie for guys. There were many cool people around, lots of laughters, voices, picnic rugs, cheese, wine and barbeque. The night was just great... I totally love the weather as well. Just perfect. It's not cold (considering it's supposed to be autumn) but it's not that hot either. so yippie..
great time to just let loose and got to know a few others from other years. got introduced to the 2 other indonesian medical students. have heard about them but yet to meet them till last night.

Went to an Indonesian party after that at a bar along Rundle Street. can't remember its name though. the crowd was pretty bad initially but got better at the later part. the music was really bad though. got to know a few other indonesians around and gosh, there are quite a number of indonesians around in adelaide actually. we are everywhere i guess. =)
There's this flirtatious but nice bartender there. He made me a special concoction called 'Delicious Debbie'. It's purplish in colour (after i ranted that i want something in tt colour), sweet and I could taste a little sourness from the lemon too. yummy.
but well, we left pretty early coz most of us were tired and it was not tt great there anw. I should have gone to the Oxford for the after-Jazz night-party instead...

here i am. back after being gone for quite a while. sorry guys for not keeping to the promise: 27/02/2006.
summer holiday was awesome. spent lots of time with my family back home. been a while since i last spent such a long time with them. got to catch up with lots of friends as well. really been a great holiday. thanks guys =)
but then again, i think 3.5 months isn't enough.... although there were times that i actually felt bored n sick of the holz..

on to my second week of school now. first week been busy. busy adjusting my life again, suddenly swamped with lots of work(pbl, resource, journal) to do, reading materials to read and lectures n tutorials to go to. my timetable is pretty bad too, i think. i have four 8am class in a week.
oh and i am taking basic chinese for elective now. learned hanyu pinyin and how to speak in the four different chinese tones. not easy, really. got them mixed up all the time. but guess i should be fine with the help of my roomie and the others. hee...

my room is sooo messy now. both betty and i haven't got the time to unpack our stuff and tidy our room properly. we are all thinking of moving out actually (my excuse for not unpacking/laziness), but we'll see how it goes. i wanna stay somewhere nearer to uni, so i can just wake up 20 mins before class and not be late for it. =) hmm, sounds like the time in Sheares..

2 papers down and 1 more to go. Resource paper today was horrible. and being in the last shift is not helping at all. Being quarantined for 1.5 hours before the paper, and having to end at freaking 5pm. I've never fancy afternoon paper..
Lots of histopathology questions and the slides, CT scans are just beyond me. Could not identify some of the structures and I think 7 mins per station was just not enough for some. agree? I hate histology! and the only time i touched the histology book was during the 1 hour quarantine time. maybe i should invest more time reading histology book. sigh, but they just look different form the real thing. anw, thanks fang for the book today. jamie gau n leighton for the crash course on bone. =)
Just hoping they gonna be lenient in the marking.

I heard that 12 people are barred from taking the exam - fail. They apparently did not meet the minimum criteria for passing 1st yr med school. judgement made by the tutors' feedback apparently. All along I thought all these fuss were just empty promises, but gosh, I was wrong. *crossing finger*
Really looking forward to Friday. Last day of exam. Gonna do lots lots of things after the paper. Gonna watch some gay shows, hopefully. And there is Christmas pageant parade this saturday. Cannot wait.

Been raining for the past couple of days and certain part of Adelaide are flooded now! And we are supposed to be the driest state in Australia, wat an irony.

just spent 3.5 hours watching a bollywood show - Kabhie Khushie Kabhie Gham. very sad/heartwarming. the movie revolves around family and love. no fighting involved (typical bollywood) and i skipped most the singing cum dancing part. just dun understand them, and very draggy lahz. they seemed to be in their own dreamland when they r dancing.
anw, the mvie is not bad. and the actors are good too! think some indians are really pretty and charming. *gasp* maybe tts y many of them got the miss universe title.. hee
oh, i love bollywood movies! highly recommended =)

wanna watch lots of oher movies now! but i dun have the time =(

having swot vac now. exam is in less than a week's time. can't wait for it to be over. not tt i am prepared or anything like that, but i really really hate this period. just wanna get it over and done with..
it suddenly occurs to me tt last friday was my last day of school. how fast. i am done being a 1st year (well not really, but soon, hopefully).

Spring is gone and it is already summer now. It's been really really hot these few days. Don't really like it actually. I love the sun, but not this bright and hot.
Daylight savings started on Sunday. Felt quite cheated coz I had 1 less hour to sleep. And it is really weird now coz the sky is still bright at about 8pm in the evening. What a long day. Hm, but guess its good to have long days, then I can get more things done. if only tt means we can have more than 24 hrs in a day..

been feeling really tired and sleepy lately as well. guess my brain is 'overstimulated'. took part in this brain-motor experiment thingie where they stimulated e brain to see e response from the motor cortex and how it affects the upper limb. hm, it might have stimulated other part of the brain as well. darn.. *yawnz*

been raining the whole day here again! wat a waste. the weather would be just perfect otherwise. and to make it worse, the rain is expected to stay till weekend =( rainy days just make me feel lazy to step out of the house...

so many things happened in just a day!
basically felt really tired today. the experiment tt i participate in is soooo tiring. it's so tiring to sit down in the 'first comfortable' chair for 2 hours without able to move my left hand much. whoa, the energy n willpower not to move it is really very draining.
then the experiment is so sleep inducing. imagine having to sit down doing nothing n stay awake for that 2 hours... well, lucky martin knows when to wake me up before i really doze off. haha phaise, but hope the result helps...

gau woke me up in the middle of my nap to tell me tt her house been broken into and her lappie is stolen. *wide awake* unbelieavable. how bad is the security here in aussie. and these junkies are so evil. broke the glass window and went in just like that. and no one sees/hears them at all. oh and the police here is very inefficient as well. they came in only like a few hours after she reported the case. how slow can they get? i know they can do nothing much but still...
and gau is my neighbour. the burglar might just come into my house next right?! hee.. hope not *cross fingers*

it's quite a pity how one can live in so much hatred and jealousy. and how one person can change drastically over a super short period of time. wats wrong with such people. to u know who u r (dunno if u r even readin this), are u enjoying it? i bet u r not and u r silently hurting urself sitting quietly in ur room, drowning in ur sorrow and hatred and jealousy or watever u call it. stop trying to derive pleasure for other's pain coz tts not gonna happen. u r just making urself more miserable... but it's quite fun watching all those things u did though..

been quite busy the past few weeks, not too sure busy with what though.. my weeks have been pretty good generally..

school started 2 weeks back and life is back to routine. timetable been quite slack though coz e uni is giving us more time to do our revision(how nice, eh? if only, it is as effective as planned). Had PBL as per normal, but think the group is really functioning better. maybe coz we all know each other better by now. poor thing tt 1 of my grp member, Tim, decided to quit med sch for another course. gonna miss his crappiness.
been attending lectures too! yippee! oh, n i have no lab n PBL this monday (thanks to our efficiency)! yay! gonna be another slack week...
clinical neurological exam on upper limb was good as well. so yeapz, my weeks been pretty good...

suddenly i'm left with 3 more weeks into the semester. exam is coming in 3 weeks time. how time flies. happy and excited about gg back, 28 more days to returning. worried about the exam, but i am still procrastinating. the prob with 'last minute' person. sigh. excited about getting on to yr2 as well. and seeing the juniors. how exciting. =) but argh, have to go thru exams first. darn.

went to lyell mcewin hospital last monday for my pregnant lady attachment. took a 1hr bus ride there. super far n i thought i was lost! but anw, found a couple who allow me to intrude into their life for the next 3 years. basically have to follow her thru her pregnancy and the baby till 18 months old. will b joining them for every check up and delivery. how cool right. but 2 2000 words essay at the end if it. =(
well, they are an indian couple. kinda sceptical abt it initially (i dun mean to be racist here ya, it's just that Asians r generally more reserved and wouldn't consent to this kinda thing). but they turn out to be really2 nice and really open about it. signed the consent forms just like that, without many questions or request at all. and they answered all my curiousity questions, even those non-related to med. but but the best part of all is they have a cute lil son! he is turning 3 next month and he is really really adorable. nice big eyes with a nice big smile. that's a bonus!!

anw, think that things really happen for a reason. and it's always for the better reason. sometimes we just dun realise it there and then. just accept it n live with it. life just gonna get better.. =)

got my haircut today!!
and it's really short. (well, not tt short actually, tie-able). hm, about the same length i had in JC and when i first got to Adelaide.
impulse? hm not really. din expect it to be this short though. had no style in mind, so just went with the suggestion. told them i want it below shoulders and oh boy, it really is directly/slightly below shoulders. but oh well, i am happy with the result! =) the hairdressers at toni&guy are really quite good i must say. and cutting hair is sure therapeutic.
it just feels better and lighter (psychologically, i guess). and some said i kinda look younger! can i get to look any more younger??!! haha sigh...
the best part about cutting hair is always the softness and the smell of the hair after it. wow! really love touching it, haha. obsessed with my hair.

rural week - port augusta

back from the simple life. hm, not that simple after all. port augusta is not as rural as what i would expect it to be. well, very small population but that's about it.
really enjoyed myself during the rural week. great place, good weather, fantastic food and treatment and best of all, great company.
got to know more people through the trip. got closer to the normally only 'hi and bye' friends. learnt a few stuff here and there as well.
oh i just have to comment/bitch that some of the angmoh gals are really childish, especially those from private schools. well they r much younger tts y maybe. most of them are only 18 ehz. and they are used to the perfect life of having everything they ever asked for and being the popular ones in their school. and when they r not in the limelight now, they started showing attitudes and unhappy abt it. hello?! the world doesnt just revolve ard them yeah.. sigh..haha

monday - went to school early to gather and catch the bus to port augusta. the bus was supposed to leave by 815am but got postponed to about 9am in the end. waited for 1 person who din turn up at all eventually. slept through the 3-hours bus journey.
reached port augusta hospital and were greeted well. had our lunch there before touring around the hospital. the hospital is pretty small but very nice and clean. better than expected. nice view too, we can see the gulf with dolphins and whales. how cool.
went for a tour around the town after that. basically 40% of the population there is made up of the aborigines, so most of the emphasis on the rural week is to emerge into and be aware of the aboriginal culture.
anw, they have this programme called school of air where school is conducted through computer and internet. the children from faraway places attended webcasted classes.how cool right..
our day ended early and went to our motel to check in at about 5+pm. to our surprised, the motel is superb. nice room, nice facilities and even better, nice food! =) we are treated very well there. seriously. it felt like a holiday... haha. shared a room with this ang-moh gal, natasha. she is very nice too. we slept really early tt night, like 1030 pm?! my earliest man! all of us felt super tired from the long journey i guess.

tuesday - woke up early for bfast. went to Ramsay's old folks home to look around and chat with some of the elderly. the place is nice, really better than what i would expect. mingled around with a few of them and they are really friendly. they could not stop talking. haha, i kinda pity them at times coz i think they really feel lonely living there. so yupe, they were thrilled to have some of us there to talk to them. some of them have dementia and it's really hard to communicate with them. we just can't link, haha. oh well...
back to the hospital for lunch and clinical skills session. they taught us intubation, cannulation, venu puncture, suturing (done on chicken wings) and CPR on babies. i love the dummies.. =) and when i did the intubation, i inserted the tube into the oesophagus instead of the trachea. so blew up the stomach instead. haha... wat an experience.
had lectures on alcoholism and renal stuff following that and the day ended early again. we headed straight to liquor shops and dane (the supervisor) bought us all about $100++ worth of liquor. we had superb dinner as well. BBQ, but we din have to cook.. hehe.
had an informal 'seminar' with a few guests on the aboriginal health. the whole rural week was like a recruitment drive. they kept telling us to come back and work there for placement. hmm, scheming.. haha. no wonder they treat us nicely lahz...
watched grey's anatomy and old schoo with the other peeps before going to bed..

wed - cultural awareness day at the yacht club. met the other 2 grps from port pirie and whyalla. a boring day. but quite an eye-opener, learnt lots of new stuff abt the aboriginal life. went to the town centre to shop after that before heading back to the motel. had another good buffet dinner at the restaurant.
played card games and drinking games with the rest of the pple. learnt a few games from the angmohs too.

thurs - went to the women and child's centre and then visited a child care centre for the special needs. played with a few kids. they are sooooo adorable. goodness. very very cute and easy to get along with too. most of them have problems with their speech, but they are all recovering though... could hear them quite clearly... =)
went to Pika Wiya, a centre for the aboriginal health for a tour around the place.
had a farewell dinner at the yacht club with the other health professionals there. something like a social night. met other doctors and seniors.
anw, talked to this quite old angmoh doctor, tony, and he is very impressive. he lived at the neighbouring small town and he is the ONLY doctor ard in tt town. the way he speaks and carries himself is just wow!haha. and he has an indonesian wife! she is a doctor too, the head of the port augusta and port pirie hospital. how cool right. she doesnt look indonesian at all. she looks very china i thought. anw, she is very nice and friendly too. can see my future in her *evil laughter*. well, tats wat they said..haha
went back to our motel with a few seniors joining us for the night. played a few games with them but it was just too crowded for the games to be fun. so they left early, and a few of us just stayed in one of the rooms for a chit-chat session.
all in all, met up with many people and got know many others as well. a good night spent...

friday - last day of rural week. woke up later than usual, packed up. did evaluation and we headed home. stopped by a park for lunch where we presented dane and barry (the bus driver) with thank you presents. boy, they were touched. haha and dane teared coz of that. they were so proud of us. i am so proud of my group too! =)

mooncake fest and city-bay run

super tired now. just woke up from my sleep or nap about an hour ago. din sleep the whole of last night. went for city-bay run in the morning as well..

last night, we had a party at home with a few of my friends coming to stay over. all of us cooked/baked something.really lotsa food. heaps of food. yummy. we had brownies, hand-made breads with many many different types of fillings, peach crumbles, choc.chip cookies, popiah and of course mooncake. had lots of drinks as well. few of them brought liquor and wine over. really impressed at others' culinary skills, especially Hans. wow! his hand-made breads are superb lohz. they r really tasty. breadtalk quality man. hehe though the hand-made mooncakes need improvement. but still, impressive. ought to learn and pick up the skill from him!
so yeapz, we ate lots of food, drink lots of booze as well. a few people got really high, but luckily we are at home! *phew*
walked a few km in the middle of the night to get a few more drinks to satisfy some people *ehem* but all e places were closed and the only open one is simply just too far. so we made a turn home! haha
played mahjong, UNO, 5 alive, bridge and a few other card games to spend the night away. well, as usual, talked abt lots of stuff and made lots lots of noise as well. asked each other silly questions, but well, was a good bonding night. so while some decided to catch some sleep, me eugene fang and kris spent the whole night chit chatting at the common kitchen while bet n grace watched mvie in the room.

and today is the city to bay run. basically it is a run from the city to the glenelg beach, a total of about 12 km. roads were closed.many many people joined in the event, some ran, some walked with their families and babies. it became quite a family event.
so they passed by my house (the main highway) and we joined them from here to the beach. a few of us walked there to join in the fun. took us abt 1. hour walking to get us there. took lots of pics along the way. motivated each other and sang along the way. saw lots of cute babies too! =) there were bands singing along the road and people giving out water. some people were just sitting by the roadside to watch and motivate the participants. and the best of all, the weather was so good and fresh.
there was a med students team running as well. they pushed the hospital bed with them. quite hilarious. other groups of people dressed up as clowns, Ronald McDonald etc etc.
and yeap we made it to glenelg. but the worst part is, we have to walk back home! there was an accident so the tram was not working and the queue for the bus is super duper long. so me sabrina gau and grace walked back home! another 6+ km, making a total of 12+ km walk!! sigh. all of us was so cranky along the way and made lots of stupid jokes and took lots of pics along the way again. haha survivor k. was so tired when i reached home. collapsed on my bed and sleep for a few hours..

woke up not too long ago and packed my bag for rural week. kinda excited but tired. really hope it's gonna be a fun and well-spent week. gotta wake up early to reach uni early tmr. so, yeapz, better hit the bed soon. will update on rural week when i got back...

so the last day of the term is here. or it's already over rather. how fast... this term has really been a busy term that eventually time flies just like that. but at the end of it all, it's been good.

so went to school as usual tday, except that i was 20 minutes late for mppd tutorial. luckily, the tutors here generally don't really care abt us being late. so yeap, din get any scolding or anything like tt. =)

received my pbl assessment as well. kinda happy with it. expected much worse from Lynn (my pbl tutor) since she told us to be prepared coz she is being quite frank and mean for this assessment. but it turns out quite well. few improvements to be made here and there along the way, but it kinda made my day.. =)
pbl itself was fun too. only spent abt 30mins dg final work and e rest of the time talking rubbish and joke with one another. i like the time when the grp let loose and enjoy each other's company, talking abt many many many things without having to argue like what we usually did during normal discussion.. =(
finally handed in my aboriginal essay assignment. yay.

went shopping with Ida n Betty today. i cannot wait for summer. i wanna wear skirt again! *excited* we bought mooncake for tmr's party too. hopefully it's gonna be a fun night. the rest r coming down to my house to party and celebrate the end of the term. and btw, Happy mooncake festival everyone! in advanced i supposed. hehe

looked through the buaya week pics from Hazel's pics gallery. i was surprised at how good some of the displays are, the amount of efforts put by some. really impressive. and some of them are really really very very sweet ehz!! really blatantly sweet! haha and will only happen in buaya week lahz. but its really cool. well done guys. well done Waylon, e buaya king!!! haha not bad. really impressed with what u did, the corner is damn nice lehz! show me the poem soon k..
too bad it has to come to an end. would be nice if everyday is like that ya. haha. except tt everyone will be broke and die from exhaustion. haha
saw heiu's poem as well and goodness, it is soooo hilarious. not just the grammar error, but the whole poem thing. sigh. haha. miss listening to his voice and accent ;p

been quite sometime since i last blogged. tried to blog for a few times but din get to finish the post or simply just too lazy to continue/write. been quite busy with school work lately. but it's all done now. looking forward the the coming mid-term break. last day of sch tmr. yay. =)

as usual, having 2 hours break before clinical skills. supposed to be doing the final editing and referencing for my indigenous health essay, but maybe will just do it later...

there is another international students' party again tnight. dunno if i should go or just stay at home and slowly finish up the essay for tmr. afterall, i have morning class to attend tmr. hm, but i know ida wants to go. *dilemma* we shall see later...

going for rural week in the first week of the holiday. kinda excited really. to be able to mix with the people in the rural areas, have hands-on experience. hope it will really be exciting and memorable.

and yeap, congrats to the 25th JCRC as well. congrats to all , especially to the C-towners in there, though u guys might not be reading this. maybe with Jesus' blessing, 25th JCRC will bring Sheares Hall to greater height! haha.

WELCOME TO THE ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW.. went here last Sunday with my housemates. The show will be here for about 1 week and it is quite good, really! a must go. lots of games, rides, showbags etc etc.. funfair.. yay!!

all of us who went. me, grace, grace's fren, leighton, franky, ida and her boyfriend who was here for holiday then. taken at the main arena, the supposedly centre of the show. had firework at night. was good! the whole atmosphere n the firework itself... sweet and beautiful.. =)

heaps of games and showbags on sales. goodness. look at the number of soft-toys available for grab! lots n lots of them. the night was crowded as well. me and the little dolphin tt leighton got, grace and our shopping goodies...
